BALTIMORE, MD – Today, Dealing with Debt (“DWD”) announced the addition of two new members of the organization’s Board of Directors. Ann Banks and Juan Cahue, both highly accomplished professionals, have joined DWD’s growing leadership team as the organization prepares for an exciting period of expansion in the coming months. Banks has an extensive background in education, serving as both an educator and administrator, as well as experience in the debt settlement industry and the non-profit sector. Cahue brings a wide range of experience as an entrepreneur and currently the Chief Operating Officer of Forth, a leading service provider for the debt settlement industry.
“The Dealing with Debt team is extremely excited that Ann Banks and Juan Cahue have decided to join our board, and we look forward to increasing our reach and effectiveness as an organization with their leadership and expertise,” said Brent Lowder, Chief Strategy Officer of Dealing with Debt. “Both have very distinguished careers as well as the drive and commitment to advance DWD’s unique vision and goals.”
Growing personal debt remains a critical issue with a recent report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York showing household debt rose by $212 billion to a total of $17.5 trillion in the fourth quarter of 2023.
“DWD’s commitment to deliver financial literacy and practical support tools and solutions for all the issues surrounding personal debt is badly needed and cannot wait to help push this mission forward,” said Banks. “My background in education will allow me to not only help shape and guide DWD’s learning platform, but also to ensure it reaches the consumers who need it most.”
“Most of my professional career has been centered around providing infrastructure to an industry that supports consumers who are struggling with personal debt,” said Cahue. “So, now being able to use this extensive experience to provide more direct consumer help and assistance in the non-profit arena is very exciting to me and I know the work will be very rewarding.”
With high consumer debt continuing to be a pervasive issue in the United States, DWD is committed to supporting consumers at every stage – from preemptively equipping individuals with knowledge to prevent a personal debt crisis, to assisting those currently in a crisis navigate the debt resolution process, to helping consumers that have successfully navigated a crisis mitigate recurrence.
